I have been using Trello for quite some time now and I can say that it helps me organize my life. I have a very busy schedule and without organization I would be lost. So back to the point here..I recently moved into a new house and after moving with all the confusion of boxes, furniture, clothing, appliances etc. I sat down and tried to simplify the process for when/if I would be moving again in the future. Hopefully not. Haha
So whilst I sat on the couch watching the sun rise over the ocean, conjuring up a plan in my head to create a system for simplifying the moving phase… it hit me…TRELLO.
Why didn’t I just setup and use Trello when we started packing in the first place? The funny thing is that it would have been faster, everyone would have known where they should put what when they offloaded and I wouldn’t be looking for things all over the house.
Now how would I propose to use Trello as my go-to moving agent? Well it’s actually pretty simple. I have gone ahead and setup a fake board with fake content that I just made up on the go to illustrate how I would use the application.
Making use of the lists I would setup each room in the house and then allocate each packed box with its numbers to the room it should be in. I would make use of Trello cards to identify the different boxes and give instructions for certain elements. Furniture, appliances etc will also be highlighted through Trello cards.
This will enable you to plan out each room with exactly what you want where so that when it’s time to move, all you have to do is: Give a printout to the movers, explain exactly what it means and how to us it and then have them do it that way.
If only I made use of this little system, it would have not only sped up the process, but sorted out a lot of problems and discussions too.
